It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of George Louis Coy, who departed this life peacefully on June 26, 2025, at the age of 95. Louis was born on November 2, 1929, to George Reese Coy and Betty Joe (Kirby) Coy in DeQueen, Arkansas. Louis grew up in Winthrop, Arkansas where he graduated from Winthrop High School. He also graduated from Magnolia A&M University.
Louis met Martha Ella McGee, the love of his life, at a dance hall in Dallas. They were married on August 9, 1950. Louis was a loving and dedicated husband to Martha for over 72 wonderful years.
Family was of paramount importance to Louis and Martha. He was a devoted father to their two sons, Ricky Louis Coy and Kenneth Allen Coy, where he was active in his boys’ school and sporting activities. He was also a doting grandfather to his four grandchildren, Kristen Coy, Kaitlyn Coy, Elizabeth Coy and Matthew Coy.
Louis was proud of his service in the Air Force and of his long, successful career with Burroughs Corporation. After his retirement, Louis and Martha pursued their lifelong passion - dancing. You could routinely find them at one honkey-tonk or another 3-4 times a week. They were a regal and elegant couple on the dance floor.
Louis was predeceased by his wife, Martha, as well as his father, mother, brother, James Marvin Coy, and daughter-in-law, Nancy Naylor (Anderson) Coy. He is survived by his two sons, his devoted daughter-in-laws, Sandra Randolph and Michelle (Vandelinder) Coy, and his four loving grandchildren.
The family will hold a visitation and light lunch for family and friends on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 from noon to 2 pm at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 West Northwest Highway, Dallas Texas. Funeral services will follow the visitation at Sparkman/Hillcrest at 2 pm.
