George was born in Terrell, Texas but moved to Dallas before the age of one. He always considered himself a “Dallas Man.” He had many jobs starting at a very young age, including a paper route throwing the Dallas Morning News, while he attended Woodrow Wilson High School. He was a member of the class of 1958. His career began soon after, and he started in the mail room and rose to the title of Senior Executive Vice President during his over 40 years with Alexander & Alexander, of Texas. His expertise was in brokering high-risk oil and gas insurance with houses such as Lloyds of London. This work required a great deal of international travel, something he greatly enjoyed. After his retirement at age 59, he enjoyed golf and fishing while spending time at his lake house in East Texas.
After the death of his first wife, he got a second chance at love when he was introduced to Sandra Murdock. The couple married in 1999 and lived for many years in Preston Hollow. Most recently, the couple have resided at Ventana Towers, on Central Expressway in Dallas.
A private burial will be held on Monday, December 22, 2025. A Celebration of Life will be held at Highland Park United Methodist Church on January 8, 2026, from 1-3 PM.
In lieu of flowers, please give to one of George’s favorite charities, North Texas Food Bank.
