

On July 29, 2012, Bernard (Barney) Theilen joined his beloved parents, George and Anna Theilen, in the presence of God. He is survived by Albina, his wife of 61 years and five sons, Don Daffron, George Theilen III and wife Jan,Frank Theilen and wife Ellen,Lee Theilen, and Darby Theilen and wife Richelle. Bernard was proud of his ten grandsons, Chris and Joshua Daffron, Tyson, Trevor, Jack and Duke Theilen, Adam, Andrew and Buck Theilen, and Harrison Theilen. He was blessed by eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by Tim Theilen, a nephew. Bernard was preceded in death by his only brother, Gordon Theilen.
Bernard was born in Dallas (Oak Cliff) on October 27, 1925. His family moved to Kleberg, Texas, and he graduated from Segoville High School in 1943. He was an outstanding auto mechanic and eventually managed the service departments of several area auto dealerships for many years. His other endeavors included raising cattle, a small business owner, and homebuilding. He retired in 1985.
At age 26 he married Bina Kugler and they raised 5 sons. He was a Scout Master, Dad's Club President, and Booster Club President. He was devoted to his family and made many happy memories possible.
In retirement, he lead a busy, happy life. He traveled the world with Bina. He golfed with his boys and grandsons. He loved gardening. He was active in Kiwanas, and was President-elect of his local chapter at the time of his death.
He was able to contribute many hours of service to the community.
Bernard was an active member of Lovers Lane United Methodist Church and loved his Adult Forum Sunday School class and Methodist Men's club. He held faithfully to his Christian principles throughout his life.
Barney’s character was that of a truly gentle man. He loved his family and friends and always put others before himself. He had a remarkable love for animals and animals seemed to love him. Life in God’s creation was a daily joy for him.
