

He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1968 and then joined the US Army, where he served in Vietnam. He received a Purple Heart and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. After returning home in 1971, he worked in printing at Dr Pepper and then Thomas Printworks where he spent more than 40 years and made many lifelong friendships.
Gerald was known for his humility, kindness, and wry sense of humor. His personal interests included bowling, softball, running, cycling, collecting comic books, watching movies and sports, reading science fiction, cracking jokes and playing games with his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was the family historian and researched the family tree all the way back to 1499!
Gerald is preceded in death by his parents, Annie Marie and Andrew Curtis Henley.
He leaves behind his loving sister Frances Grimland and his twin brother Earl Henley and wife Judy; nieces Teresa Velasquez and Sheri Flores and nephew Danny Henley; and great-nieces and a great-nephew: Ashley, Brianna & Cailynn Velasquez; Jordyn, McKenna & Lillian Flores; Brenna-Marie and Rhodes Henley; and Makayla Hardy; and great-great niece Harley Mason.
A visitation for Gerald will be held Tuesday, March 11, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, March 12, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228. A reception will occur Wednesday, March 12, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, 3920 Samuell Blvd, Dallas, TX 75228. A graveside service will occur Wednesday, April 9, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 1:15 PM at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211.
