

His mother Janice B. McCarty, grandfather Gerald Chesley Butler, and grandmother Willie B. Butler, preceded Gerald in death. He has been laid to rest beside his mother and grandparents at Forest Park Cemetery NW, Shreveport, Louisiana.
He was a 1972 graduate of Byrd High School in Shreveport and attended Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, CA. Gerald’s portraiture spanned 42 years, and his work has graced homes and corporate galleries across the United States. His unique approach recognized the role of the photographer as both artist and historian. His career also included work as a television broadcast producer, director and videographer specializing in live religious and church service productions. Included were credits working for the nationally broadcast D.L. Dykes Ministry, Shreveport, LA. In Dallas, he directed radio and television broadcasts for Lovers Lane United Methodist Church and Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church.
A gathering of friends and time for remembrances will take place at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home on Monday, June 26, 2017 at 4:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lovers Lane United Methodist Church.
