

Gerald Munguia, affectionately known as Gary, passed away on January 8, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on July 19, 1954, in San Antonio, Texas, Gary was a beloved, brave, generous, humorous, and loyal individual who touched the lives of many.
Gary grew up in Big Spring, Texas, and graduated from Big Spring High School. He was known for his love of football, pole jumping, and track. He took great joy in walking his dogs, Girl and Snoopy.
Gary was deeply involved in his community, being an active member of the National Shrine Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and the Nueva Vida International Church. He always had a smile on his face and made friends easily, leaving a legacy of warmth and kindness.
He is survived by his brother, Johnny Munguia, and wife, Norma Castillo Munguia; sister, Cynthia P Rosas, and husband, Carlos Rosas; sister, Norma Burciaga, and husband, Ismael Burciaga; step-brother, Dagoberto Lopez, and wife, Cheryl Kay Lopez; step-brother, Juan Lopez, and wife, Janie Lopez; and step-sister, Marga VanEps.
A visitation will be held on January 27, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Gonzalez Funeral Home, 3050 N STEMMONS FWY, Dallas, TX 75247. A graveside service will be held at Laurel Land Funeral Home & Laurel Land Memorial Park, 6300 S R L Thornton Fwy, Dallas, TX 75232, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.
The family expresses their gratitude for the thoughts and prayers during this time of grief, acknowledging that your kindness will not be forgotten. Gary would often bring smiles with his joyful spirit, famously greeting with the Spanish phrase, "un Carro que no pito!"
Gary will be missed and never forgotten. Love you, Brother! Please give a hug to mom for us.
