Geraldine Grace Connaway passed away Saturday, July 19th just shy of her 88th birthday. Geri, as she was called by friends and family, was born on August 3, 1937 to Francis Bernard and Lockie Bea Miller in Spring, Texas. Geri grew up in Jasper, Vidor, and Corpus Christi, Texas before settling in Dallas, Texas in the 1950s. There she met and married the love of her life, Wayne Hudson Connaway. Geri was known for her southern cooking. Children and grandchildren alike enjoyed many meals of fried chicken and cream gravy, gumbo, chicken and dumplings, and her special Thanksgiving brown gravy. Geri is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Wayne, her granddaughter, Tonia Vickers, and grandson, Tommy Simmons. She leaves behind her children, Michael Simmons, Deborah Germann, Gaye Simmons, David SImmons, and Lisa Connaway plus many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
