Gerrye was born in Boston, MA on November 14, 1929, to John G. Norton and Clara Belle Norton. She graduated from Ursuline Academy of Dallas and attended Texas Women’s University.
Gerrye worked at Southern Methodist University as Head Cashier for 20 years and Farmers Insurance of Texas.
Gerrye is preceeded in death by her parents, her brother Francis, sister Virginia and grandson Christopher D. Spurgin.
Gerrye is survived by her children, Julie May, Patti Smith (Alan), John O’Connor (Jennifer), and Joe O’Connor along with grandchildren Matthew May (Sonia), Mark May (Elizabeth), Rebekah Spurgin, Ashley Bowersock (Justin), Mary Lauren Kirwan (Bobby), Kathryn O’Connor, Clara Sisk (Alan), Julia Koonsman (Luke), 14 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank her faithful caregivers Suzy Ruiz, those at Parsons House, New Century Hospice, especially LeAnn, Robin, Nona, Kimmy and Will.
