Gilberte Cusack

Gilberte M.(Bourdel)Cusack age 95, passed away on February 10th, 2015 at the Chesaning Nursing Care Center in Chesaning, MI. Gil was born in Honfleur(Normandy)France on May 9th,1919 to the late Rene Bourdel and Charlotte(Friard)Bourdel. She married Capt. C. Frank Cusack(US Army)on November 22nd,1945 in Rouen(Normandy)France. She lived through the German occupation and the Allied Liberation of France. She came to America after World War II and moved with her husband to Dallas, TX, where she spent most of her life. Gil became a US citizen on February 25th,1950. She was a homemaker that spent her life loving and caring for her family. She loved flowers and took great pride in her yard. In her later life, she discovered casinos and slot machines. She is survived by 2 sons, Jack (Marion) Cusack of Sugar Land, TX and Pat (Donna) Cusack of Arlington, TX, a daughter Frankie(Cusack)Hirschberg of Chesaning, MI. and a special friend Diana Huff. She also had 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her sister, Rene Dumesnil and 1 Grandson, Cary Joe Hirschberg. Gil was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and recently great-great grandmother. Our family would like to thank the staff at the Chesaning Nursing Care Center for the warm and loving care they gave our mother while she was with them. Services will be held at Laurel Land Funeral Home and Cemetery 6000 S R.L. Thornton Frwy Dallas, TX 75232 on Monday, February 16th,2015 at 2:00pm. Visitation will be the same day, beginning at 1:00pm.
