One word: Yellow.
Known to her family as “Sismama” and her many, many friends as the “Yellow Rose of Texas,” she was an amazing source of energy, light, love and inspiration. There are few people who could consistently wear one color for so long with grace, style and sophistication.
She will be remembered for her graciousness, intelligence, humility, kindness and especially her love for her family and her sense of humor.
She possessed an amazing sense of humor, and incredible insight and throughout her life showed a deep understanding and empathy towards others.
Her civic and volunteer contributions were innumerable, spanning across the city of Dallas, culminating with over 60 years of service to local and national volunteer organizations.
It was the performing arts, however, that held a special place in her heart. Her friends and energy within these groups were boundless. She was a Founder, Chairman and/or a lifetime board member of many local and national groups and she gave tirelessly to each and every group.

Around that time the newly renovated Majestic Theater became its home – Sis was Chairman of the Gala Opening Event to benefit the Ballet and celebrate the performance in the beautiful theater.
Sis, along with many other notable Dallasites, introduced the joint venture with the highly regarded Ft. Worth Ballet, which became a single entity known today as The Texas Ballet Theater. Sis was the chairman of the Dallas Supports beginning in 1994-1995 and remained so until 2001 season when she became Chairman Emeritus.
In 2005, Ben Stevenson, Director of the Texas Ballet Theater and long-time friend of Sis Carr’s, created an evening of dance in her honor designed to celebrate her contributions to the Texas Ballet.
