

words. She transitioned from her earthly life on July23, 2024. Glenda was born on June 11, 1949,
in Kilgore, Texas to Earsa Lene and Carrenza Thurmond Sr.
Her family moved to Dallas in the early 1950’s where they united with Mount Horeb Missionary
Baptist Church. Glenda accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by the late Rev. Warren
Sidney Brent. She was active in various youth activities of the church including Sunday School,
the Junior Choir, the Starlight Band, BTU, and YWA.
Glenda later joined East Gate Missionary Baptist Church and was a devoted member under the
pastoral leadership of Rev. H. D. Reagan and current Pastor Kennedy Young Jr. She served on
the Usher Board, Food Pantry, and loved working with the Reading Rockets.
Glenda was a product of the Dallas Independent School District and graduated from Franklin D.
Roosevelt High School as a member of the Class of 1967. She later attended Draughon Business
College and El Centro College where she obtained her Associate Degree in Medical
Transcription. She worked as a medical transcriptionist and several places during her career and
retired from St. Paul Medical Center after more than twenty years.
Glenda married her high school sweetheart, Horace O. Wesley Sr. who preceded her in death. To
this union four children were born.
Glenda was preceded in death by her daughter, Keisha Wesley; her parents Carrenza Sr. and
Earsa Thurmond; two sisters Phyllis Boyd and Barbara Chism (Harold).
She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Kimberly Webb (husband Michael) of Plano,
two sons Horace Wesley Jr. (wife Tina) of Harvey, Louisiana, and Michael Wesley (wife Nina) of
Waxahachie; six grandchildren, Tyler Webb, Ryan Webb, Michael Wesley Jr., Christin Moore,
Daylon Moore, and Jaylon Moore; one sister Floyda Myrick (husband Robert); three brothers
Carrenza Thurmond Jr; Maurice Thurmond (wife Mary); Carlise Thurmond (wife Dolly) and a
host of nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Glenda will be held Friday, August 2, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Singing Hills Funeral Home, 6221 UNIVERSITY HILLS BLVD, DALLAS, TX 75241. A service of celebration will occur Saturday, August 3, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Eastgate Missionary Baptist Church, 6960 S Polk St, Dallas, TX 75232. A graveside will occur Monday, August 5, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM at Laurel Land Funeral Home & Laurel Land Memorial Park, 6300 S R L Thornton Fwy, Dallas, TX 75232.
