

She was born on April 29, 1927 in Fairfield, Texas to Willey Frank and Myrtle Fae Tate, who raised her in Fairfield. She graduated from Fairfield High School in 1944 and attended Sam Houston State University before working as a secretary until she married James Morgan Clayton, from Morehead, Kentucky, on June 17th, 1955 in Austin, Texas.
Her first son, Steven Morgan Clayton, was born in Houston, Texas and her second son, James Leslie Clayton, was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela. Shortly afterwards the Claytons moved back to the USA where they lived in Oklahoma and Louisiana before settling in Dallas to make a permanent home.
Gloria was very active in the Republican Party; was a tremendous animal lover and a loyal care giver to her husband while he suffered from Alzheimers, as well as caring for many of her friends during their last days.
She is preceded in death by her husband Jim and her son Les.
A Committal Service will be held on Monday, November 12th at 11:00 am at Hillcrest Memorial Park. The Memorial Service will begin at 12:00 pm at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, followed by a reception.
