Gloria was born December 23, 1946, in Vallejo, California to Woody and Winifred Dickerson. She spent her early childhood in Galveston and Hitchcock, Texas. She moved to San Francisco in her pre-teen years where she spent most of her adult life.
Gloria developed artistic skills during high school becoming a superb poet and writer. Her efforts led to being offered a scholarship to art school and the publishing of one of her poems. While attending Mercy High School, Cheryle served as the family cook and helped to take care of her great grandmother
and two younger brothers.
She earned a BA degree in History from California State University, San Francisco. Although being diagnosed with MS, Gloria did not allow that to stop her from working. A natural born fighter,
she worked for 30 years at AT&T until failing health forced her to retire.
Cheryle then moved to Texas to live with her brother, Willard, where she lived in a small, peaceful community for many years enjoying the independence to navigate around the neighborhood on her scooter.
On Sunday, July 17th, 2022, she lost her battle with MS.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.laurellanddallas.com for the Dickerson family.
