Glynn Godfrey was born on March 23, 1952 in Port Arthur, TX to parents Wesley and Clevester Godfrey. He was the youngest of three boys. Glynn grew up unable to get into any trouble. He had to stay on the straight and narrow. His father was a Sergeant in the Police Force in Port Arthur and everyone knew him. Anytime Glynn even thought about doing some mischief, there was always someone around threatening to tell his father.
Glynn graduated from Lincoln High School in 1970. While there, he was a star athlete and earned a football scholarship to Southern University in Baton Rouge. He went to Southern for two years and transferred to Lamar University in Beaumont earning his Bachelor of Science in Marketing. Glynn married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Morris, in 1973. They had two amazing children, Dana and Julian Godfrey. Dana is a high school basketball coach in Houston and Julian is an Entertainment Accountant in Los Angeles. Glynn started his career as a Salesman for General Foods, Xerox and Kraft. He soon grew weary of the corporate world and began his career in the railroad. He started working for Southern Pacific in Houston in 1978. He then worked his way up to Conductor and Engineer for Amtrak driving the passenger train on routes all over the country from the West coast to the East coast. He retired from the railroad in 2016 after more than 30 years of service. Glynn loved hanging out with his railroad buddies often meeting up for Bar B Que and drinks.
Glynn’s favorite pastime was watching the Dallas Cowboys. He was their biggest fan and loyal supporter – win or lose. On game day you could find him sitting in front of the TV, screaming and coaching from the sidelines. Glynn’s other favorite pastime was repairing and rebuilding computers.
