Gracie Dewberry Gee was born January 27, 1944 to the parentage of the late Euester and Elvie Lee Dewberry. She was the third of eight children. She attended Athens Independent School District and after graduation from high school she attended Jarvis Christian College where she majored in Elementary Education. After graduating college, she did her teaching Internship in Lubbock, Texas. She later accepted a teaching position with the Dallas Independent School District where she was named Who’s Who Among American Teachers. She continued her education and received her Master’s Degree from East Texas State University (Texas A&M Commerce). Gracie was united in marriage with her loving husband, Lawrence Gee in 1966 and remained so until his death in February 2020. She joined Lawrence in loving his daughter, Chantary Thomas and their Grandson, Kylan. Gracie accepted Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Providence Baptist Church in Athens at a young age. She moved her membership to Greater Mt. Hebron Baptist under the late Reverend H.L. Crayton where she served as a Sunday School teacher and also on the Usher Board until her health prevented her from doing so. On Sunday, January 01, 2023, Gracie passed away at home after a lengthy illness. She was welcomed into her eternal home of glory by her parents; two sisters, Jacquelyn Manley and Ruthie Lawson and three brothers, Sylvester Dewberry, William Dewberry and Joe Dewberry. She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory her loving sister Joshlon Warren; brothers, Felton Dewberry (Peggy) and Donald Cook (Sylvia); grandson, Kylan Wess; her bonus children, Chantary Thomas and Lawrence Ward (Kelli) and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
