

Grady Marvin Hudgens was born June 28, 1937 in Dallas, Texas and passed away at Baylor Hospital surrounded by family on January 7, 2017. Grady was the son of James and Barbara Hudgens of Dallas, who preceded him in death.
Grady joined the Dallas Fire Department in in 1958 and retired from Station 5 on July 1, 1987. He served as a fireman in the US Army from September 1960 until August 1962, where he was stationed in Alaska. After retiring from the fire department he worked for Nucor Vulcraft Group where he did blueprint detailing for steel decking and joist.
Grady was an avid golfer and loved playing with his friends from the fire department. He was a lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers.
Grady married the love of his life Dolores Irene Giles on November 1, 1958. They were married 53 years when Dolores passed away on December 23, 2011. They had two children James (Jim) W Hudgens and Joey Leah Stewart. Joey unexpectedly passed away January 19, 2013.
Grady is survived by his son, James (Jim) Hudgens; son-in-law, Mike Stewart; grandchildren, Melinda (Ambrosia) Kirk, John-Ryan (Savannah) Hudgens, Samantha (Anthony) Murphy, and Dakota (Cody) Stewart; great-grandchildren, James, Austin, Rhett, Kimberly, and Elana; and step-great-grandchildren, Lexi, Raina, Junior, and Annabelle.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 11, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00pm, and Funeral Services will be Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 10:00am, all at Grove Hill Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Grove Hill Memorial Park, where Grady will be remembered with Funeral Honors from both the US Army and the Dallas Fire Department.
