

Gregorio Limas Ybarra, age 90, went to be with the LORD on December 11, 2017. He was born on December 19, 1926, in San Juan, Texas, to Evaristo Ybarra and Gabriela Limas. Greg, also known as Goyo, was raised in the Rio Grande Valley. He served in the US Army, during World War II, and was stationed in Germany. He often spoke of the atrocities he witnessed during his service and he was dedicated to his country, always standing to salute the flag, during the national anthem.
He married for 65 years to Maria Angelica Marroquin and the couple had a daughter and 3 sons. He was a machinist for Trinity Casting Service for over 15 years. In his spare time Greg enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He had a Saturday morning ritual of meeting his lifelong buddies for breakfast and coffee at their favorite restaurants. He was a dedicated husband and father, always attending his children’s games and activities. He loved all sports and was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavs, Dallas Stars, the former Dallas Tornado and the Texas Rangers.
His family and friends will always fondly remember him as a loving, kind, generous person. He’ll be remembered as a prankster and one who loved to tell jokes to make you smile and laugh. He gave everyone a nickname, including the friends of his children, who always called him “dad”. He treated everyone as family.
He is preceded in death by his parents Evaristo and Gabriela Ybarra, his older brother Olegario Ybarra, his eldest sister Concepcion Garza, an older sister Margarita Barrera, his son in law Rodolfo Carlos Fernandez and his granddaughter Ana-Alecia Ayala.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Maria Angelica Ybarra, his daughter Norma, 3 sons, Dennis, Robert and Greg Jr., 9 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and siblings, Miguel, Sadot and Catalina Ybarra.
Visitation will be held Tuesday December 26, 2017 from 4:00 pm till 8:00 pm with a rosary scheduled for 6:30 pm at Gonzalez Funeral Home. Please join the family 12:00 pm Wednesday December 27, 2017 at Santa Clara Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial 321 Calumet St. Dallas, TX 75211. Interment DFW National Cemetery.
The last five years were challenging due to various health problems and dementia. The family would like to thank all family members and friends who supported them during his hospitalizations. We thank you for your love, your prayers and the various ways you supported us. GOD Bless You!
