It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the death of our son, brother, nephew, cousin and friend Gregory Keith Harnesberger, aged 59, of Dallas, Texas, who passed away unexpectedly on November 30, 2021. Greg was born March 17, 1962, in Dallas and was the son of Kay and Gordon Harnesberger.
He spent his early life in Dallas and San Antonio, attended St. Marks School (Dallas) and later graduated from The University School (Milwaukee). He then attended Southern Methodist University graduating (1983) in only three years with a B.A. in Psychology. He graduated Cum Laude and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
During college, he spent the first and third years on the SMU campus in Dallas. However, during the second year, he spent the first semester attending SMU's college facility in Paris, France, and the second semester touring Europe, visiting many countries and creating myriad life long memories.
Based upon these months abroad, Greg fell in love with France. He became fluent in French and remained an enthusiastic Francophile throughout his life . Occasional trips back to France and a cruise on the Seine were among his fond memories. Greg was also fluent in Spanish.
After graduation, early business positions took him to Omaha and Atlanta. He later returned to live and work in Dallas for the remainder of his life. He was a licensed real estate agent in Texas and prided himself on staying on top of all the latest trends and developments in this rapidly changing industry.
Greg was a caring and thoughtful person who loved his family. He was appreciated and liked by all those who knew him. Throughout his life, he had a curious mind and was continuously interested in learning new things, mastering many new skills along the way. For example, at a young age he took it upon himself to truly master home remodeling projects and then proceeded to totally redo his Grandmother's house, top to bottom - - - a very impressive achievement.
He was an avid conversationalist who could enthusiastically engage on a very wide, eclectic range of subjects. He will be remembered for his intelligence, outspoken opinions and dry wit. His sudden departure has left us with a huge hole in our hearts. He will be greatly missed . . .
He is survived by his mother and father, Kay and Gordon Harnesberger, his stepmother Sylvia Harnesberger, his sister Deborah Outlaw, his aunts Robbye McKinney and Quinn Lambert and numerous cousins stretching from Texas to Alaska.
Greg's service will be conducted at Mausoleum Chapel East of Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 West Northwest Highway, Dallas, Texas, 75225, on Wednesday, December 8, 2021. Visitation will begin at 1:00pm with the service beginning at 2:00pm. A reception will follow the service.
