HAVILAND, GRETCHEN LAMBERTZ passed away peacefully on December 17, 2021, with her family at her side after a brief illness. She was born in 1935 in Dallas, Texas. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Greg and Jill Haviland of Austin, and her daughter Mary Haviland of Dallas. She was preceded in death by her father and mother Karl and Bonnie Ruth Lambertz. She leaves behind a short list of life-long friends.
A fourth generation Texan, she lived in Dallas most of her life, graduating from Highland Park High School. She earned Bachelor of Arts and Master of Education degrees from Southern Methodist University. She began her teaching career at Oran M. Roberts Elementary School and retired after 19 years of service at Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas, teaching ceramics and art. She was a life-long patron of the arts as well as an accomplished artist herself. She never stopped teaching, she never ceased learning, she cherished her friends and family and she was admired by all for her insight, humor and wisdom.
