Gus Jefferson Jr.

It is with great sadness that the family of Gus Jefferson, Jr. announce his sudden passing on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at the age of 92.

Gus served in the Army and later in life, received Christ Jesus as his Lord and Savior and served Him until he Transitioned. He will always be remembered for his beautiful voice and gift of singing.

Gus will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 6 years, Rev. Joan; children, Mitzie Jefferson, Charles Jefferson (Sallie), Ronald Wheatley, Greg Wheatley (Nancy); grandchildren, Sydney Jefferson-Wilson, Trent, Kegan, Shantel; siblings; Darlene Jenkins and numerous other family members; and friends.

Gus was predeceased by his parents, Gus Sr. and Annie; children, Rick Schluter, siblings, Calvis Barnett (Birdie), Sisters, Emma, Vauda, and Velma.

A visitation for Gus will be held Thursday, August 29, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Laurel Land Funeral Home, 6300 South R.L.Thornton Frwy, Dallas, TX 75232.

A funeral service will occur Friday, August 30, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 6300 South R.L.Thornton Frwy, Dallas, TX 75232.

A committal service will occur Friday, August 30, 2024 from 3:30 PM to 4:00 PM, 6300 South R.L.Thornton Frwy, Dallas, TX 75232.

A reception will occur Friday, August 30, 2024 from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM at Miracle Temple of Deliverance Church, 1301 E Parkerville Road, DeSoto, TX 75115.
