Born October 16, 1951 in Dallas, TX, Guy peacefully went to be with his savior, Jesus Christ, on March 7, 2017 after a lengthy, hard fought battle with both Parkinson’s Disease and cancer. He fought to the end with a determination and faith admired by those around him. He was the oldest of four siblings, a devoted father to three sons, and a loving and compassionate brother and son. Guy served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War as a medical aid stationed in Germany where he assisted in delivering babies. After the military, Guy built his career in the IT field for a large software firm in technical support. He was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2002 and subsequently joined the Parkinson’s Voice Project, a wonderful organization that assists PD patients with maintaining their speech through their love of music. In 2014, Guy also joined a support group called Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease (YOPD) where he met many amazing people that grew to be dear friends. Guy lived life to its fullest – music, art and sports were his passions. He was an avid harmonica player, an enthusiastic artist, and could never get enough of his favorite sports teams be it the Cowboys, Rangers, Stars or Mavericks. Guy marched through life to the beat of his own drum and brought smiles and joy to all those around him with his happy go lucky attitude, laid back life philosophy, and endless compassion. Guy is survived by many family members including: three loving sons – Alex Henderson, Brett Henderson and Lucas Henderson; a sister, Wanda Sullivan and husband, Don; a brother, Tom Buckley and wife, Stephanie; an aunt, Melinda Price and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was proceeded in death by his mother, Barbara Hughes, and a brother, Terry Henderson. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to either the Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease (YOPD) support group http://www.dfwyopd.org or The Parkinson’s Voice Project www.parkinsonsvoiceproject.com. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at 10:00 am in the Main Mausoleum at Calvary Hill Funeral Home located at 3235 Lombardy Lane, Dallas, TX 75220 (service will be informal dress - wear jeans and your favorite Dallas sports team shirt).
