He was engaged in the dairy business all of his life, first working for his father, then as a partner with his brother, Eli, until 1960. He incorporated Schepps Dairy in 1960 with himself as CEO until he sold the business at the end of 1984 and has been retired since that time. In addition to being in the dairy business, he also had a chain of food stores, Schepps Food Stores, which were sold in 1984. He served on the board of directors of many dairy related organizations. He also served on many charitable organizations, especially those related to law enforcement. He was proud of his membership on the board of directors of the Communities Foundation of Texas and Dean Learning Center. He was honored by the Rotary Club and was awarded the “Paul Harris Fellow”. He was also honored by the Dallas Historical Society, Anti Defamation League, National Conference of Christian & Jews and others. He felt that one of his greatest achievements began in 1973, offering rewards to informants to help solve crimes. This program was very successful because the rewards were made for the apprehension and indictment of persons guilty of heinous crimes. This program has continued through today by his successors, and has been very effective in helping enforcement agencies.
