Harriet was born on November 8, 1929, in Mobile, Alabama, to Morgan Gilder Fowler and Augusta Murphy Fowler. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and her brothers, Morgan and Danny Fowler. She is survived by her brother, Howard Fowler.
Harriet spent most of her childhood in Mobile, with brief family moves to Beaumont, Texas, and Berkeley, California. She attended St. Matthew’s Catholic Elementary School and Bishop Toolen High School, where she proudly played the trumpet in the all-girls marching band and was honored as a member of the homecoming court.
In 1951, Harriet met the love of her life, Bill Durick. They were married just three months later, beginning a remarkable 63-year marriage filled with devotion and partnership until Bill’s passing in 2014. In 1953, they moved to Dallas, Texas, where they built their life together and raised five children. Harriet was a steadfast partner, supporting Bill’s teaching and coaching career while working as a crackerjack bookkeeper and dedicating herself wholeheartedly to raising their family.
Later in life, Harriet and Bill started UK Sales, working side by side for many years in business as they had in life.
Harriet was a founding member of St. Monica Catholic Church in Dallas. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she attended Mass weekly. She faithfully supported her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren in their many activities. Her home was a gathering place filled with warmth and love. Her grandchildren especially cherished walking to her home after school, where she would greet them with her famous Fritos topped with melted cheese.
She is survived by her children: Bill Durick (Sandy), Mary Ann Walters (David), Susan Titus (Monte), Lauren Zoltek (Tom), and Carolyn Harrison (Mark); 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Her legacy of faith, love, and family devotion lives on through each of them.
Harriet was beautiful inside and out, a woman of grace, strength, and unwavering love. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the extraordinary caregivers at Infinity Home, Royal Gardens Residential Home, and to Amity Hospice. May God bless each of you.
