Harry C. Maddox Sr., known to family as "Papaw" was born on June 14, 1936 and passed away on November 4, 2018 at the age of 82 in Dallas. A native of Dallas, TX, Harry attended Forest High School, worked for Sears Roebuck & Co. for 45 years. He attended St. Augustine Catholic Church and St. Phillips Catholic Church. Pursuing his love for music, Harry played bass guitar in the The Johnny Raymond Band, private clubs, and hotels in downtown Dallas as well as The Bob Pate Band with his wife, Wilma. Harry had a great love for family. He was a big fan of NASCAR, Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys and the Dallas Mavericks. He had a clever sense of humor with the ability to make a room full of family laugh. He was a simple man who was not afraid to say, "I'm sorry" and "I love you." Harry was preceded in death by his parents Archie C. Maddox, Artie Lorene Harrison Maddox and step-mother Myrtice Maddox, his siblings, Billy Maddox and Joyce Crabtree. Harry is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Wilma Jean Maddox and sisters, Sandra Holt and Margie Sicard. Together Wilma and Harry had 5 dear children: Deborah Banda, Judy Ladd, Gregory Maddox, Harry Maddox Jr., and Steven Maddox. Papaw was the proud grandfather of 10 grandchildren: Janna Rodriguez, Rachel Butler, Lori Johnson, Brian Ladd, Timothy Ladd, Heather Gregory, David Maddox, Dustin Maddox, Renee Maddox, and Claire Maddox. Papaw was also the great-grandfather to 11 great-grandchildren and will be greatly missed. Visitation and Rosary services will be held Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 6-8 pm in the Chapel of Grove Hill Funeral Home. Funeral Service is Friday, November 9, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Grove Hill Funeral Home and the Interment will be in the Grove Hill Memorial Park immediately following the Funeral Service.
