Mrs. Hazel Othelda Standifer

Hazel Othelda (Glosup) Pledger Standifer , beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, was called home on June 23, 2022, one month shy of her 99th birthday. Hazel was born in Sulphur Springs to mother Etta Phillips Glosup and father Jack Glosup. Preceded in death by husband Thomas Raymond Pledger, husband Roy Standifer, son Gordon Wayne Pledger, stepson Ed Standifer and brother Clifford Bond. Hazel is survived by her daughter Jan Pledger (Lea) Kirby and husband Tim, son Michael James Pledger and wife Sue, daughter-in-law Linda Pledger, daughter-in-law Gennell Standifer, sister-in-law Barbara Ellis, grandchildren Stacey Lea Haenchen (Jonathan), Mark Lea, Clay Pledger, David Pledger, Elizabeth Pledger Jones (Ike), Greg Pledger and Sarah Pledger Brooks (Madison), and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. For the past four years, Hazel lived with the challenges of Alzheimer’s disease but retained her sweet spirit, strong Christian faith and friendly persona, even when names no longer came easily. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no public memorial service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Methodist Hospital System (where Hazel and her husband Roy spent many happy hours volunteering) in her memory.
