H.E. "Pete" Montgomery

H.E. "Pete” Montgomery was born October 5, 1929 in Little Rock, Arkansas, and passed away peacefully at his home in Forney, Texas on Friday, July 3, 2015. He previously resided for 60 years in Mesquite, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Okreta Montgomery of Little Rock, AR; his wife of 58 years, Betty Montgomery of Mesquite, TX; daughter, Danna Bridwell of Mesquite, TX; and brother, Russell Montgomery of Little Rock, AR.

Pete is survived by his son, Rick Montgomery and wife Debi of Arlington, TX; daughter, Debbie Rigsbee and husband Joe of Mesquite, TX ; daughter, Sandra Wilson and husband Rick of Forney, TX, son-in-law Doug Bridwell of Mesquite, TX; Thirteen Grandchildren; Twenty-four Great-Grandchildren; One Great-Great-Granddaughter; sister, Pat Piggott of Pioneer, CA; sister, Jo Ann Morgan and husband Jack of Eustace, TX; brother, Bill Montgomery of Little Rock, AR; brother, Paul Montgomery of Mabank, TX; his beloved dog, Lucy; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Pete was a painting contractor until he retired at the age of 62. He had a lifelong passion for golf, and he enjoyed the thrill of having a “hole-in-one” at the Van Zandt Country Club. He also enjoyed games, particularly dominoes and cards, as well as his love of fishing and hunting. Pete will long be remembered for his talent for telling old stories and jokes. He will be dearly missed by all of his family and many friends.

Visitation will be Monday, July 6, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., and Funeral Services will be Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at 10:00 A.M., both at Grove Hill Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Grove Hill Memorial Park.
