

Helen was born January 27, 1931 in Laredo, Texas to William B. Hopkins Jr and Helen Irene Vaughn Hopkins. She lived in South Texas during her early life, including Corpus Christi, Laredo and Victoria. She graduated from The Hockaday School in Dallas and the University of Texas at Austin. Following her graduation, Helen joined Braniff International Airlines in Dallas where she worked for over 30 years. First working as a flight attendant and then in management and administration. In 1967 Helen married Major William Gregory Adair, a decorated WW II veteran.
Helen was actively involved with the Clipped B’s – the Association of Former Braniff Flight attendants. She was also involved as a long-time volunteer with the Frontiers of Flight Museum at Dallas Love Field until 2022.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Helen Hopkins; her husband, William Adair; her brother, William B. Hopkins III, her aunt and uncle, Eleanor Lee and Richard Furman; and her grandparents Judge William B. Hopkins and Edna Halsey Hopkins.
She is survived by nephews William B. Hopkins IV and Brent R. Hopkins of Houston, niece Karen Hopkins Bonifield of Charleston, SC, a great nephew Barry Moore of Murphy, Texas and numerous other family members. Helen also leaves behind many dear lifelong friends, a legacy of love within her family and service to her community.
A committal service will be held at the Dallas - Fort Worth National Cemetery at 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway on February 26, 2024 at 1:15 pm, with a reception immediately following at the Frontiers of Flight Museum at Love Field at 6911 Lemmon Ave., Dallas, TX 75209.
