"Working hands are now at rest." Helen Marie Crimm, 101, passed away on June 19, 2019 in Commerce, Texas. She was born on April 15, 1918 in Briston, Texas to Richard and Dona McKay. Helen was raised in Ellis County and graduated from Bristol High School in 1935. She married Ervin Crimm on December 24, 1936 and the couple had two children. Helen was a seamstress at Page Boy Maternity and Sonny Isle where she worked for more than 40 years. During her career as a seamstress, Helen was personally chosen to make maternity clothes for Shirley Temple; she made the inaugural clothing for former Dallas Mayor Annette Strauss and blue jeans for country music star, Mickey Gilley. In her spare time, Helen enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles and traveling. She loved animals, her family and friends and The Lord. Helen's family will always remember her for her precious smile and her love of them and life.
Helen is preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Ervin Crimm and her son, James Ervin Crimm, Sr. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Mary Mahaffey ,and daughter-in-law, Jessie Crimm; grandsons, James Ervin Crimm, Jr., John Crimm and wife, Cissy, Ed Mahaffey and wife, Jody and granddaughter, Donna Walker and husband, Tim; sister-in-law, Mollie Cannaday; 6 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their utmost gratitude to the loving staff of Oak Manor Nursing Home, the Kindred Hospice Staff and many friends for the love and care they have exuded during this time.
