OBITUARY

Henry Aloysius Hammann

May 21, 1954January 13, 2018

Henry Aloysius Hammann, beloved Opa, dad, brother, husband, uncle and friend to so many, passed away unexpectedly on January 13, 2018 from an aortic aneurysm. He never had the intention of leaving us in a well-preserved body, rather he wanted to skid out on two wheels, thoroughly used up, shouting out, “That’s It! What a fun ride!”

Henry’s life motto, Einfach Leben, “Live Everyday” is something that he truly lived by. His gregarious laugh, gorgeous smile, no fear, adventure-loving, sarcastic off-color comments, and sheer love for life will be missed by his loved ones every single day. While our sailor left us way too soon, we are comforted in knowing that he went on his terms and his spirit is sailing free in his happy place riding the waves, smelling the salty ocean air, and flying free into the wind soaking up the rays. Sail on, sailor! Prost!

Henry is survived by daughter Nicole and son-in-law Jeremy, grandchildren Ella and Abe, son Peter, wife Amanda, sister Brigitte and the Ruberg family in Germany (Gunter, Stefanie and husband Christian, Michael, Romina and several nieces and nephews), and countless extended family members and friends. A celebration of life will be announced soon to party one last time with Henry!

In lieu of flowers, donations to his favorite charities can be made in his name to: The Bridge Homeless Recovery Center (https://www.bridgenorthtexas.org/give) or Café Momentum (http://cafemomentum.org)

I just received the news of Henry's passing. My heart is so heavy for his family and I pray they will find comfort and peace in the days to come. One thing I will always remember is before he would do anything to my hair, I would ask him, Do you have a vision? I have no idea how that started, but he said he certainly did! I hugged Henry for the last time on November 30th. Little did I know that would be the final time I would see him. I'll miss your laugh and making my day by just being in your presence. Rest In Peace dear man. Until we meet again......

1984. That year is when I first met Henry and put him in charge of my hair. He is the best hairdresser/stylist ever. After a few years, my husband was tired of barbers so I suggested Henry. Instant connection. We are both stunned and saddened with the news of Henry's passing. But, I have to smile because he brought so much sunshine and laughter to our world. He is one in a million. Our love to Henry and his family, Jack and Mary Wininger

Henry came into my life a little over 25 years ago and took care of my hair and we gained a great friendship in the process. I followed him from salon to salon over the years. I was supposed to see him next Wed for my monthly appt and I am still in shock that he is gone. We shared travel stories, politics, and anything else that came up. I introduced him to Deep Eddy Lemon. He took care of my mother's hair a few times until she died in 2000. Henry also took care of my daughter's as well when she was in town. He was a fixture in my life and I miss him greatly. My prayers go to his family and many friends all over the world. Sail on, Henry!

I meet Henry forty years ago, I followed him through a variety of different salons and life changes for both of us. His sudden death is a lesson to all of us to cherish the ones who are special in our lives. My condolences to his family, particularly his daughter and her family and Peter who he often talked about.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
All changes have a mechancholy.
Because what we leave behind is a part of our own. We have to say goodbye to one life before we can enter another.
Goodbye Henry! God knows when we will meet again.
