Henry R. Hoffman Jr.

Henry R. Hoffman, Jr. was born on August 22, 1922, in Oklahoma City, OK, to parents Ren C. Hoffman and Henry R. Hoffman, Sr., both deceased. He is survived by his loving wife Jean B. Hoffman and daughters Patricia Ann McNichols of Milwaukee, WI and Jill E. Tiernan and her husband F. Thomas Tiernan of Dallas. He is further survived by his wonderful granddaughters Virginia Tiernan and Madeline McNichols, by his brother Dr. Joseph F. Hoffman and his wife Elena of New Haven, CT. and by his nephew Richard Hoffman, M.D., Denver, CO. He was predeceased by his brother Edmund M. Hoffman, his sister-in-law Adelyn Hoffman and his nephew Robert Hoffman.

Henry was a veteran of WWII having served in the infantry and also the air corps. His military occupational specialties included Clerk Typist, Light Machine Gunner and Administrative NCO. He was awarded the Purple Heart and rose through the ranks from private to corporal.

Henry was a mechanical engineering graduate of the University of Oklahoma and he also attended the University of Texas at Austin. He was a registered Professional Engineer and was a real estate agent, builder and developer for over 40 years. He was also an inventor and held several patents. Henry was also an Eagle Scout, the highest rank attainable in the Boy Scouts of America.

Henry’s real estate career included developing Metropolitan Business Park in Dallas as well as projects in San Antonio, Houston, El Paso, Tulsa and Oklahoma City. He was a member of the National Association of Industrial and Office Parks. Henry was an avid tennis player, golfer and fly-fisherman and was a member of Preston Trail Golf Club and Bent Tree Country Club. He and his wife traveled widely, visiting all 50states and six of the seven continents as well as many countries. Following a private internment, a memorial service will be held at Sparkman-Hillcrest Funeral Home at 2 PM on Wednesday, January 2, 2013. The family will greet friends at a catered reception in Sparkman/Hillcrest immediately following the memorial service.

The family is especially grateful for the wonderful care provided to Henry by Robert Toto, M.D. of UT Southwestern Medical Center and by his personal caregivers Lettie Jurado and Jacqueline Hampton.
