A truly one-of-a-kind man, Henry touched countless lives with his generosity, encouragement, and unwavering willingness to help others. He was born on December 31, 1934, in Dallas, Texas, to Henry M. Stover and Mary Will Carter, both Texas natives. A lifelong Dallas Cowboys and Baltimore Ravens fan, he cheered passionately not only for his favorite team but especially for his children and grandchildren in all their athletic pursuits, from Little League through the NFL.
Henry proudly served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany from 1960 to 1962. Following his military service, he returned to Dallas and began building both his career and family life.
In 1963, Henry married Tasia Sops of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Together they built a loving home in Dallas, raising their three children, Ellen, Paul, and Matt. Henry dedicated his professional life to a long and successful career as a salesman with Ciba-Geigy Pharmaceutical Company (Novartis).
Henry gave his time generously to people of all ages. He had a special love for teaching math and, following his retirement, spent many years tutoring students from second through sixth grade at Wallace Elementary. Known affectionately as "Coach" to many, he devoted countless hours to youth sports, volunteering with YMCA Little League and coaching church basketball and softball teams at Holy Trinity. His constant encouragement - "Just give it a try. What's the worst that can happen?" —left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
He had a lifelong passion for sports, especially softball and golf. He remained active well into his later years, playing golf and staying engaged in the games he loved until the end of his life.
Henry is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Tasia Sops Stover. He is survived by his children Ellen Goold and husband Bob Goold, and their children Anastasia Goold and Harrison Goold; Paul Stover and wife Jennifer Stover, and their children Emily Stover and Lauren Stover; and Matt Stover and wife Debbie Stover, and their children Jenna Webster and husband Dr. Tim Webster, and their children James Webster and Dean Webster; Jacob Stover and fiancée Kylie Leone; and Joe Stover. He also leaves behind extended family and friends.
The family would like to thank his devoted caregivers Tina Akyeampong, Pablo Valerio, Luis Vega, Gerson Garcia, Richard Gutierrez, Sabrina Paredes and New Horizon Homes, all who took loving care of Henry during the last year of his life.
