

Henry Lawson Washington, “Big Joe” Life and Legacy. On the twenty-first day of September, nineteen hundred and thirty-seven, Henry Lawson Washington was born in Bivins, Texas, to the union of Willena and George Washington. He was raised in Buna, Texas and he graduated from Bessmay High School in 1956. In 1958 Henry moved to Dallas, Texas. On June 15, 1985, Henry married the love of his life, Gloria, and to this beautiful union of love came a family of six children. Henry Lawson Washington entered into GLORY LAND from this life on Monday evening, February 13, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He was welcomed with open arms into his eternal home by his mother and father; son, Henry Lawson Washington II and daughter Grace JoAnna Smith. Henry leaves those to forever cherish his Life, Love and Legacy, his loving and dedicated wife of 31 years, Gloria Washington of Desoto Texas; his sons, Christopher Lawson Washington of Carrollton Texas, Erroll D. Hampton, Sr. (Kristina) of Dallas, Texas and Burnice Smith III (Trina) of Arlington, Texas; daughter, Shannon Williams (Melvin) of Garland, Texas; nine grandchildren, Quinces Jackson(Eva), Andrea Jackson, Kayla Smith, Noah Smith, Fallen Smith, Erroll D. Hampton, Jr., Danasia Hampton, ZaKai Hampton, Elijah Hampton ,Brandon Thomas, and Aloni Thomas all of Dallas, Texas ; five great-grandchildren, Jaylen Jackson, Erica Jackson, Xavier Rojas, David Rojas, and Breannette Rojas all of Dallas Texas; brother, Superintendent Curtis Jones (Beulah) of Buna Texas; nephews, Anthony Jones (Joan), Derrick Jones (Cecila), Ronald Dewayne Jones (Renea); aunts, Maggie L. Williams, Bessie M. Moten, Iris N. Scale(Reverend George) and Betty Lou Cavitt all of Dallas and a host of cousins and friends.
