She was born in Page, West Virginia in Fayette County on September 7, 1923 to William McKinley Phelps and Lilly Mae Nickel. Hester Phelps graduated from Eastfield College, Mesquite, Texas and received an Associate’s Degree.
She married Guy Chamberlain on December 20, 2003.
Hester had a career in the Aircraft Industry at LTV and all its predecessor companies. In the later years, she tutored language at Eastfield College in Mesquite, Texas.
She was a highly skilled seamstress and for many years, made all of her own clothes. She had a passion for art and music. She authored two children’s books and sold hundreds of her original paintings through a Texas gallery dedicated to her work.
She is survived by husband, Guy Chamberlain; children, Kenneth Beachum and Grady Beachum; grandchildren, Michael Beachum, Michele Beachum and Jett Beachum; great grandchildren, Sean and Ryan Wier, brother, Jerry Douglas Phelps and sister, Armatha Wegrzyn.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 30, 2019 from 6pm-8pm at Sparkman Crane Funeral Home, 10501 Garland Rd. Dallas, TX. 75218.
Funeral Mass will be held at 1pm on May 31, 2019 at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3030 Gus Thomasson Rd. Dallas, TX. 75228. Interment at Sacred Heart Cemetery, 3900 Rowlett Rd. Rowlett, TX. 75088.
