I was born Friday, December 24, 1948, at 5:03 am, in Carbondale, Texas, Bowie County. My parents were Jerry Lee and Jerelene Louise Jennings. At an early age, I united with Mt. Obie Baptist Church. I attended New Boston High School, and I moved to Dallas in 1968, uniting with Greater Ideal Baptist Church of Dallas, Texas. Later in years, I united with Forest Avenue Baptist Church. I was employed by Texas Instruments Inc., St. Regis Paper Company, Quaker Oats Company, and I retired from the United States Postal Service.

On Saturday, September 8, 2018, at 02:22 am, I answered my final call to come home to my eternal home of Glory. I was met with open arms by all my family members who left before me: my parents; sisters, Ruby Louise Jennings and Barbara L. Noel; brother, Preston Jennings; and my beloved daughter, Stephanie Jennings Brooks.

My family that loves and cherishes all of my memories are my three beautiful children, Steven Ray Jennings (Gwendolyn) and Sharon La Rue Jennings, and Anthony Charles Jennings all of Dallas, Texas; I was blessed with seven handsome grandsons, Christopher Harris, Justin Brooks, Courtney Harris, Jonathan Hampton, Juquan Bynaum, Jacorien Walker and Amias Jennings; my only great-granddaughter, Jocelyn Hampton; my four brothers, J.L. Jennings, Sr. and Roy H. Jennings both of New Boston, Texas, William E. Jennings of Houston, Texas and Gary W. Jennings of Grand Prairie, Texas; my two sisters, Pearlene Jennings of Texarkana, Texas, and Wanda J. Smith of Arlington, Texas; and I have a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
