

Ima Gene McCord of Dallas, TX passed away on July 26, 2025, in Boerne, TX, where she had lived for the past 25 years. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, memaw, and great-grandmother to all that knew and loved her.
She was born on May 21, 1929, in rural Oklahoma, later moving at a young age to Alba, TX. She graduated from Golden High School, for which her good friend, Harold Simmons, was a classmate and lifelong friend. She was a lifetime member of Dallas' First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School to 11-year-olds for nearly 25 years. Her deep faith was her life on a daily basis.
After retirement from Richardson ISD as the Administrative Accountant for the Food Service program, she and her husband, Bill, moved to Kerrville, TX.
She was married to Wm M. "Bill" McCord for nearly 35 years before his passing in 1998. She is also preceded in death by her youngest son, Kyle Preston, in 1989.
She is survived by her oldest son, Bryan of Boerne, TX; daughter-in-law, Julie Rodriguez-McCord; 3 granddaughters, Hannah, Haley, and Heather; and 4 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2pm Friday, August 1, at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 7405 W. Northwest Highway, Dallas, TX 75225.Contributions may be made to Boy Scout Troop 890 (Lake Highlands Methodist Church) or First Baptist Church, Dallas.
