Irene Hale, a long-time resident of Pleasant Grove area, died Friday, July 25, 2014 in Dallas, Texas. Born June 5, 1931, Irene grew up in Greenport, NY. Irene met her husband Eddie Hale in 1949. They would spend the next 65 years loving and caring for one another. Irene put family above all else. She loved unconditionally with open arms and she always spoke her mind. She is predeceased by her mother and father Walter and Martha Snead, and grandson Charlie Hale. Irene is survived by her husband of 65 years, sons Edward Hale II, son Freddie Hale and wife Kathy Hale, 3 grandsons, Bryan Hale and wife Debbie Hale, Willie Hale and wife Amy Hale, Dustin Thomas and wife Gena Thomas, 1 granddaughter Heather Byrd, 3 great grandchildren Andrea, Charlie and Elliott, twin sister Mary Detrick of Greenport, NY and brother Jim Snead of North Topsail Beach, NC. Graveside services will be held at Grove Hill Memorial Park on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at 11:00 am.
