IRIS MAY BRINKLEY

Iris May Brinkley of Dallas, Texas, passed away on March 5, 2018 at the age of 93 years. Iris was born in Howe, Texas on May 22, 1924. Her parents were Joseph Jackson Brinkley and Lillie Thorn Brinkley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Nola Brinkley, Rita Brinkley Wilson, Floyd Brinkley, Elsie Brinkley Spears and Tony Brinkley. She is survived by nephew: Stephen Spears and nieces: Georgia Wilson Hunter, Linda Brinkley, Barbara Wilson Riley, Julie Spears and Gail Spears Groves and several grand nephews and nieces.

She graduated from Howe, TX High School in 1941. She attended Decatur Baptist College (1941-1942) to gain more experience in bookkeeping and new techniques used in office work. She worked 30 years for Buell & Co. Wholesale Building Materials in Dallas, TX. She also worked 12 years at Shamburger Building Materials Co. in Dallas, TX until she retired. She was a loyal, compassionate and active member of Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church (Sunday School and Forever Young Club) in Dallas, TX. She called, sent cards and visited those members of her Sunday school class who were ill or bereaved. She also enjoyed extensive travel with church groups, sisters and sister-in-law.

The family will receive friends and family Wednesday evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Sparkman-Crane Funeral Home. The funeral will be 10:30am-11:30am Thurs (3/8), also at the funeral home and a brief graveside service and burial will be at Hall Cemetery in Howe, TX at 1:00pm. Pastor Tracy Dophied from Shiloh Baptist Church will officiate at both services. The family would like to thank the staff of Bradfield Place Assisted Living Center in Mesquite and Golden Acres Nursing Home in Dallas for the care of our Aunt Iris.

It truly was an honor and privilege to be able to be a part of Iris's life. We truly missed her when she moved from Bradfield Place. Heaven has definitely gained an Angel. Our prayers and thoughts are with the Brinkley family.
