Rest in peace Iris.  Your wonderful legacy is living on.  Well done my dear, well done.

Deanie was a mother, aunt, sister and friend to me and my family. We miss her so much 🙏🏽

I am deeply saddened to hear of Iris “Deanie”’s passing.  She was a good friend and a loving sister. I will miss her dearly. 

Everything said about Iris is true.  She lived her life healing, serving, and teaching others.  She opened her arms, her heart, and her home, to those who needed help, guidance, or just the warmth of her radiant smile.  Thank you for touching our lives and for giving so much of yourself to so many. Rest in Peace my dear and know that each of us who you gave a piece of yourself will carry it in our hearts and our deeds forever.

My heart was saddened to hear of the passing of Ms. Iris Meda.
Most of us at North Texas Job Corps Center would call her “ Ms Iris.”
I worked with her from the time she started working at North Texas Job Corps Center until her  retirement in January 2020 .
Her smile, selflessness, compassion and kindness will be greatly missed.

Just like the flower, Mrs. Iris Meda was rare and one of a kind. She was a phenomenal woman. To some, she's a hero, but to me, she is so much more.  She was my "Boss Lady", my mentor, my second mother, my SHERO, but most importantly, a true friend. Kind of weird being that we are 35 years apart. Seems like we had so much in common, just in a different era. She got me through some difficult and trying times through conversations alone. After finishing LVN school, Mrs. Iris gave me my first nursing job. At times she would forget that I was a new nurse. She had more faith and believed in me more than I did myself. There are many stories I could tell, but the one that sticks out the most is when Mrs. Iris and I were the only nursing staff trying to run the whole clinic. Staying late and coming in early, Mrs. Iris ran around that clinic with her cracking hip like one of the young nurses. Proving that she could still run circles around me if she wanted to. We would laugh, cry, and vent at the end of each day. I knew it was real when that New York accent came out. If it had not been for her, I wouldn't have the confidence and courage to handle certain situations and/or people. Because of her, I can continue advancing my journey in nursing. Your shared knowledge and presence will not go in vain. I will never forget the words you spoke.  Especially, "Darlissa, you don't have a strong personality, you have a leader personality, not all can handle that, never allow someone to change you because they are uncomfortable with your strength. Stay who you are and continue to strive for greatness." Love and miss you.

My heart goes out to the family of Iris.  We met when she worked in the nursing home in DeSoto.  I remember sharing stories of our children and all God had done in our lives, as well as prayers for strength and guidance.    I am sorry for your loss and pray for God’s comfort for you all.  

To my amazing big sister -- I want you to know that I will truly miss you.  You are the epitome of strength, commitment and unconditional love.  I'm happy that you were a part of my life.  I will be there for your family.  Don't worry, I got this.  God was missing an angel and He chose you.  

My sister helped raise me as a young boy.  If it wasn't for her, I literally would not be able to see this day.  I vividly remember as a baby her playing with me in bed.  My mother turned me on my back, and Deanie turned me back on my stomach.  At that moment, the ceiling caved in on us.  That incident would have blinded me for sure.  My sister has always been my protector when I was too small to protect her in turn.  I literally owe her my sight.  I would have her that and much more.  I love her so much.  

Iris was a friend,a mentor and one of the best people I have ever worked with. She always brought knowledge, humor and love wherever she went. She will be deeply missed. 

Iris was a gracious lady, a treasure.  I had the great joy of sharing stories and laughs with her at her daughters' wedding and baby showers and other gatherings.  The moment I met her, I felt an instant friendship with her and knew where Selene and Tanya learned poise and humor.  I am not surprised that she came from retirement to help in a time of need.  She was a kind and generous soul. 

Ms.Iris is like my second mom we always talk like everyday she the one who taught me how to be firm and how to enjoy life and dont care about what people will say, the first person who believe on my abilities and always there for me when i need a person to talk,  it really hurts when i knew she is gone, it doesnt sink in to me that shes gone, but i need to accept it. The only way i think i can send back the love she gave to me is to pay it forward and continue the legacy that she left and help others, i will really miss her.

I am the sister of Iris Meda . She was loving, forgiving, strong, fearless, and always willing to help others. I will miss her Dearly. Rest in Heavenly peace.

I'm sorry for your loss. Iris was a hero and the world is a worse place without her. 

I know from my departed mother the dedication that nurses have and the tribulations they endure. 

And yet for the sake of those she didn't know she returned to help. 

I never met Iris, but her sacrifice will never be forgotten by me. 

I did not know your mother but reading her story I recognized I was in the presence of a hero.  I feel your loss.  She appears to have been a truly remarkable person.  I am glad you are funding a scholarship in her honor and I gave toward that tribute through your GoFund Me appeal.

As best friends in middle school, Selene and I spent time all over NYC, including many sleepovers at her home.  I think Mrs. Meda was the only person outside of my family that my mother trusted to not only look after me, but also to correct me, if necessary.  I remember her vivacious spirit, her beautiful smile, and her kind ways. Que Dios la bendiga. Selene and Mr. Meda, I am so, so sorry for your loss.  

I didn’t know your mother, but read her story in the paper. My heart is saddened for your family ‘s loss.  
Her strength of character and compassion are a beacon of inspiration and hope to us all.

It was always good to see Iris’ face at church. She would always walk up with a big smile and greeting. Also, I enjoyed getting to know her and her story at our small group meetings. 
I am praying for the family that God will surround them with amazing grace and love as they walk through this very difficult valley.

I am saddened to hear of Mrs. Iris’s passing. She was such a sweet lady and I enjoyed working with her at the North Texas Job Corps center.  She will be missed! 💕

Iris and I first became friends when we were eighteen. We both were going through difficult times, and Iris brought light and humor and friendship to me at a time I needed them most. Shortly before Iris died I wrote to her about how much her friendship has meant to me. I reminded her how we could go for years without seeing each other and the bond of our friendship was as strong as ever. I'm so thankful for Iris, who  has brought healing, light and love to me, and clearly to so many other people 

I first met aunt Iris in the summer of 2005, while visiting Texas, a visit that never supposed to be, but my wonderful family (uncle John and aunt Iris) wanted us to stay for a few days after a vacation visit to Canada. Amazing, warm hearted, kind and very funny is how I will always remember Iris Meda.

It was an honor to work with Iris.  She was one of the best, most dedicated nurses I have ever known.  I am lucky to have been able to have her as a friend.

I remember working with Mrs. Meda at the North Texas Job Corps Center. She was so sweet & warm. I’m just loved her spirit & her love for life. Take your rest beautiful ❤️
