Ivan Doyle Siddons

Doyle was born on a farm in Fay, Oklahoma on May 5, 1933. He received both his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Oklahoma. Following his graduation from medical school, he served for two years in the Navy during the Korean War. He did his internship and residency in radiology in Galveston, TX where he met and married Sharon Vernon in January 1964. They recently celebrated their 50th anniversary together in Australia.

Upon completion of his training they moved to Sacramento, CA where he practiced at Mercy General Hospital. In 1979 they moved back to Galveston Island for one year and then to Clear Lake where he practiced at Mainland Hospital until his retirement in 1999.

Doyle was an avid fan of OU football and loved attending the annual OU/TX game each fall. An excellent cook, he made the best chicken fried steak and creamed gravy. He could do the New York Times weekly crossword puzzle in ink and was an expert at jigsaw puzzles. He gave his time every Friday for 10 years at the Information Booth at Love Field – he was one of the original LUV Helpers in that volunteer program.

He is preceded in death by his parents James Key and Opal of Fay, Oklahoma, and his sister, Jean, of Redmond, WA. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Vernon Siddons of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, his sons Scott and his wife Juliet of Dallas, TX, Jason Siddons of Orange, CA, Chad and his wife Whitney of Melbourne, Australia; and his six grandchildren Gibson, Sarah, Ashley, Campbell, Piper, and Finlay.

Memorial Service to be held on Tuesday, June 23 at 3:00 at the Church of the Incarnation, 3966 McKinney Avenue, Dallas, TX 75204. A “Celebration of Life” to be held after.
