
Jack Randolph Swain Jr. was born December 9th, 1928 in Dallas, Texas to Mary Catterral and Jack Randolph Sr. and went to be with his Heavenly Father on June 10th 2015. Mr. Swain was a graduate of Highland Park High School where he played short stop for the Highland Park Scots. He went on to attend the University of Texas at Austin where he was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity; after which, he embarked on a career in baseball where he played short stop for the Reno Silver Sox Sunset league, and eventually returned to Dallas to join his friends playing for the Whyland Merrit Funeral Home. Upon returning to Dallas he also went to work for the family business, Dunlap Swain Tire Co., which at the time was a single service station in the parking garage adjacent to the Adolphus hotel. Jack went on to build the family business, which at its peak consisted of 17 locations throughout Dallas, and was a recipient of the Silver Star Award for the best customer service of an independent operator from Humble Oil Company. He met his wife of 59 years, Beverly Ann Tony while she was senior at the University of Texas. Mr. Swain is survived by his sister Mary Elizabeth Sabo; wife, Beverley; his son, Jack Swain III; three daughters, Cathy Lucas, Ann Swain and Carol Swain; niece Beth Sabo Huddleston; nephew Lyle Sabo, and a grandson Whit Moses, Jr. He will be remembered by all that knew him for his kind heart, generosity and sense of humor. A memorial service will be held Monday June 15th at 2 PM at the Church of the Incarnation with a reception to immediately follow.
