He was born on June 26, 1934, in Nebraska City, Nebraska. Jack attended the University of Nebraska, graduating in January of 1958 with a degree in engineering.
On February 2, 1957, he married Mary Hall. Together they shared 62 loving years of marriage and had 3 children, Jack R. von Gillern III, Mary Blair Toates, and Jeffry Hall von Gillern.
Jack had a highly successful business career in the emerging age of the computer services industry, as well as oil and gas businesses. Along with his entrepreneurial approach to business, he had a passion for general aviation as an avid private pilot.
Some of his favorite times were spent in Northern Minnesota at the family’s lake home on Thunder Lake. Since his discovery of the lake when he was only 16 years old he has created a legacy that continues to flourish for future generations.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years Mary; son Jack (Nida), daughter Blair (Russ), and son Jeff (Janet): 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
He will be laid to rest at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Dallas.
