Jackie Huffman truly cared about the education of students.  As a principal new to Richardson I found him a dependable colleague always ready to advise and support best practices. Over the years, his friendship was invaluable to me.  Jackie was a fine man, a valued professional and a beloved friend to many.  My heart goes out to his family.

Played for Coach back in 1967 and 40 years later our paths crossed again when he was in construction & I worked as an administrator in
Rockwall ISD.  Great man and always had fun being around him.

There is sadness in passing, yet joy will come again in the cherished memories. Jack is long time customer of EVS Supply. It was always a joy to see him come in the shop with his larger than life personality  and his dry sense of humor. I always told him that we could not afford to pay him for the entertainment, and he would say "never been paid for it before". Another Jackism was that every time I would ask him a question to determine what he was trying to purchase he would say "huh" , and I would say "we sell batteries for your hearing aids too". He always chuckled at that.


Jack was technically a colleague but as many of you know, he had a heart of gold and would go above and beyond his role. He quickly became a friend with everyone at the Avant Law Firm. He was someone I could always count on.  I will miss him sorely. 

I was a student athlete under the direction of Coach Huffman the first 4 years of his career at Richardson. I was a freshman his first year at Richardson Junior high. The next 3 years were at RHS. The team at RJHS was terrible and I was new to Richardson. He worked with me at several positions to see where I could help the team most. I also worked summers and after school in the maintenance department so it was interesting that he eventually directed that department. I have very fond memories of him and he was a great motivator.

I met Jack in September 2014 when I started working at Avant Law Firm. Jack was such a great guy. I will miss him so much. My prayers go out to his family.  He may be gone from my sight but not from my heart. 

Such fond memories of Jack stopping by the Avant office.  We shared travel stories and gardening tips!  He loved when I'd bring him my home grown tomatoes.  Many times he immediately bit into one just like an apple.   RIP dear Jack you will be deeply missed!

I did not know Jackie personally.  I was on the sophomore class B Team football at W.W. Samuell.   We scrimmaged the A Team one day.  I was head to head against Jackie on the line.  He was a big strong man then at 240 pounds.  I weighted 120 pounds at the time.   Jackie just pushed me out of the way with ease with his arm.    I will never forget that day that I met him on the football field.  He would never remember me from that short encounter.   I have always had a lot of respect for Jackie Huffman!  He was one of my football hero's at Samuell high school!   RIP Jackie!!!

Jack was a friend of many years - a person that I had great respect for and a person that I know who cared deeplhy for his family.  His work in education paved the foundation for the success of the school district.  His memory will live on the minds of his friends and everyone he worked with.  We will all miss him.  God bless Jack and all of his family.
