James Milton Brummett
February 28, 1939 – May 7, 2019
James Brummett born February 28,1939 in Dallas, Texas. Passed away peacefully on May 7, 2019. James graduated from Mesquite High School in 1957. He joined the Army on 12/6/1961 and faithfully served his country as an Auto Mechanic and Sharp Shooter until 12/5/1967 when he received an Honorable discharge as a Specialist E4 and acting NCO. James worked in sales and management at American Auto Parts (Big A) for 25+ years then went to work for Hutton Communications before retiring in 2006. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, bowling, playing poker, singing while strumming his guitar, whistling, reading the paper daily, scratching lottery tickets and Budweiser. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. James is preceded in death by his mother and father, Ottis and Christene Brummett; brother-in-law Bill Nichols, and stepson Mark Durrett. He is survived by his dedicated long time companion Virginia Johnson, sister Barbara Nichols, three loving daughters, Debbie Pierce and husband Darrel, Pam Brummett, Jennifer Winters and husband Cory, and step daughter Stacey Durrett Goldman. Grandchildren, Jimmie Shelton, Marci Weedon, Marc Wynn Jr, Christopher Wynn, Calvin Wynn, Jessie Sampson, Lee Cogbill, Chase Winters, Paityn Winters, and step granddaughter Amanda Wegner, numerous Great Grandchildren, friends and extended family. He fought the good fight and will be deeply missed by all. We love you Superman!
Visitation will be held Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Grove Hill Funeral Home Chapel, Dallas, TX at 12:30pm followed by Memorial Service at 1:30pm.
