So sad to learn of the passing of James. Although I have never met cousin Fritz I communicated with him by letter. My father spoke highly of him.  It is through the kindness of Fritz that I have and cherish photos of my father as a young child.

An honorable, respectable, loving, caring and always smiling man. A great friend to many and a wonderful Uncle to Sherry, Cindy and Gary. Even unto the end he was always looking out for those he loved and giving from his heart as well. I am privileged to have known him, and blessed to have called him friend as I cared for his sister-in-law Alice. In knowing him I came to love him and I will miss him immensely, but I look forward to the day when I will see him again in heaven. RIP Fritz

I just want to join the Chorus of voices praising Chief Dahman. Years ago when I strayed and left the Department for what appeared to be the greener fields if investigation with the Federal Government, I returned to the Department a wiser(?) Officer. Chief Dahman did my re-hire interview. Thank God he made it happen. A kind, caring, compassionate, Gentleman personally, and a true professional of the First Tier in the Police Service. A credit to all who knew him at any level.

Thank you God for people like Chief Dahman.  We were blessed to have his fine leadership.  I admired him and looked up to him as a mentor.  To his family, please accept my deepest condolences.

My dearest Uncle Fritz, you were caretaker for Grandmother and Grandpapa Dahman and Aunt Collette till the day they died; even paying rent for Aunt Collette. When my dad died you also looked after my Mom Alice. Through the years you have driven us to the airport thousands of times. You were so much more than an Uncle to me.  Go with gods angels. I miss you so much.

One of the best Chiefs our Department ever had.  Always provided sound leadership and advice to all.  I greatly enjoyed visiting and talking with him over the years.  With deepest sympathy to his family.

We are very fortunate to say our father was a good friend of Jim's.  They were both parishioners at St. Patrick's Church and were involved in the Rosary Group, the Tuesday morning Rosary at Doctor's Nursing Home and thousands breakfasts at McDonald's after morning Mass (when Jim was not traveling).  He touched the lives of many.  It's a lonelier planet without Jim.  He will be missed….

September 18, 1954, at age 20, I was on Lamar St at 2:00 AM looking for my younger brother who was delivering newspapers, to let him know our 17 year old brother was killed by a drunk driver. I didn't want him to see it in the paper.
Two of Dallas' finest asked if they could help me. Years later, when my husband got out of the navy, he joined DPD. His trainer brought him home and we began to talk about drunk drivers. Come to find out, Fritz was the young DPD officer at 2:00 AM on Lamar St offering to help me find my brother. Now he was taking care of my husband. What did I do to deserve a man like Fritz Dahman to watch my back?

Chief Dahman was one of my favorite Chiefs. He was admired by all ranks of the Department.A very caring and great person. Prayers of Peace and comfort to his family

RIP Chief.  You were always a chief for the rank and file.  You will not find the caliber of chiefs today that we had in you and others during your tenure.  My prayers go out to your famly during their time of sorrow.

I will always remember James from our meetings of The Confraternity of the Holy Face. It was not a coincidence that he died on the feast day of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, seeing as we always met at the Carmelite Monastery.
He will be forever in our prayers at the Confraternity meetings. He will be greatly missed. A man of great faith.

One of the greatest men you could ever work for.  He was a model for what true leaders should be. He was a man of integrity and fairness.  Never heard anyone say a bad word about him.  That is a testament to his character in itself.  Praying that his family finds peace in the lord.  We'll miss you chief.

In all my contacts with Chief Dahman I was always impressed with his professionalism, his pride in the DPD and his ability to relate to all ranks and personnel within the department and the citizens we served.

There are not enough words to express my feelings for the Best Supervisor and Chief  that I ever worked for. The DPD has truly lost one of its finest. He was a Mentor, a Dutch Uncle, and a Good friend to so many of us who knew him and loved him. One of the greatest men I have ever had the pleasure to call friend.  He was an excellent leader, not pusher and got the most out of eveyone who worked for him.  He never forgot from whence he came and there are not many Chief Officers who can in good conscience make that claim.  He will be sorely missed.

A great Command Officer who never forgot the street officer and never said a harsh word to any. Rest in Peace, Chief. You were the best. Condolences to family and friends.
