

In loving memory of: Army, Private First Class; James William Ellis. Passed away on December 30, 2024. James joined the Army on December 3, 1970. He served until being honorably discharged on November 26, 1973. During his time in active duty, he received the National Defense Service Medal during the Korean War. He was a helicopter repairman and aircraft mechanic.
James William Ellis was born on March 1, 1953, in Ventura, California. Beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away peacefully at the age of 71 in his home in Lancaster, Texas. James brought joy and warmth to everyone he encountered during his remarkable life.
James was preceded in death by his parents, James Ellis Sr, and Terri Ellis. He was survived by his sisters; Bonnie Ellis-Turnage and Evelyn Ellis Hinton. Left to cherish his memory are his loving daughters: Jaime Ellis-Smith and Stephanie Ellis-Cruz. James also leaves behind numerous cherished grandchildren; James Michael Cruz 3rd, Jericho Samson Cruz, Annalee Fancy Cruz, Sarah Leah Cruz, Emma Jean Cruz, and Ellie May Smith. Nieces and nephews, as well as countless friends and extended family members who cherished his friendship.
James attended Duncanville, high school, but did not graduate with his class of 71 because he joined the army, where he later received his graduate degree at Nuremberg American High School in Germany.
After the army, he spent many years working for the Union Pacific rail road in Arlington, Texas.
He was a dedicated and hard-working man who often worked overtime to support his family. He retired in 2014 and spent the next two years taking care of his elderly father until he passed away in 2016. James spent his remaining years relaxing and enjoying his retirement.
