
It is with great sadness that I tell you that my sweet husband, James M. (Jim) Harned died May 4, 2016 from Parkinson's, Parkinson's induced Dementia and Congestive Heart Failure. His death is a blessing for him, but a great loss for those who loved him.
Jim was born November 1, 1930 in Dallas. He was a Mortgage Banker, Commercial Realtor, Member of the Appraisal Institute, owner of Jim Harned Appraisal Services and Jim Harned Real Estate. He was a member of : Calyx Club, IKS, Royal Oaks Country Club, and Beta Theta Pi Fraternity at UT Austin. He served as President of the Dallas Tennis Club and Dallas District Golf Association, and as head of the Scholarship Committee for that organization. In 1948, Jim graduated from Highland Park High School where he was a cheerleader, and participated in numerous sports. He attended U.T. Austin, Texas Tech, and graduated with a BBA from the University of North Texas. During the Korean War, he served our country in the U.S. Air Force. Jim was a former member of Highland Park Presbyterian Church and current member of Lake Highlands United Methodist Church where he served on the Trustees and Finance Committee. Jim and I married at LHUMC in 1972.
Those who predeceased Jim include his parents, James H. and Reba Jo Kennedy Harned, Stepfather Don Fitch, Sr., sister Betty Harned McRoberts and husband Pete, stepbrothers Don and David Fitch, and David's wife Doris. Nieces Robin Fitch Levin and Virginia McRoberts Coffman. Brothers and sisters in the Peterson family.
Surviving Jim: wife Suzanne Ashford Foster Harned, daughters Sherry Ealy Spoonts, Elizabeth Ealy Kitay, and Melinda Harned Jobe and their husbands: Steve Spoonts, Darryl Kitay and Randy Jobe. Grandchildren: Keith Dahlberg, Kimberly Dahlberg, Rachel Kitay Buttery and husband Nick, Amber Mathes, Brittney and Lindsey Jobe, and sisters in law Dorothy Fitch and Cynthia Ashford, and brother Bobby Peterson. Niece Carolyn Gibson and husband Bob and nephew Steve McRoberts and Sandy Hammer. Numerous great nieces and nephews.

Visitation at Sparkman Hillcrest will be Monday, May 9, 6pm-8pm. A memorial service will be held at 3pm, Tuesday, May 10, at Lake Highlands United Methodist Church, 9015 Plano Rd., Dallas, 75238 with reception to follow.
