

He is survived by his lifelong companion (ex-wife), children, grandchildren, siblings and a host of nieces & nephews as well as their children.
He was born in Mexia, Tx on May 6,1950. His childhood in Mexia instilled a lifelong passion for family and enjoying time well spent with the people he loved. James and Lynn first met and bonded over cards at a gathering of friends. Their mutual appreciation for family gatherings led them to their relationship blossoming at a Juneteenth celebration at Comanche Crossing. They continued to share this fondness of fellowship and celebration throughout their marriage & relationship.
His life long motto was “Enjoy!”
He leaves behind his blended family consisting of his children Craig Johnson (Chastidy), Shamiecka Brown (Sammy) & Crystal Villa-Heggar (Norberto). His grandchildren, Sonny, Devon, Samantha, Christian, Brooklyn, Hayden and Crisvelle. His siblings, sister Frankie Ruth Mackey (Jesse), and brothers Kenneth Heggar (Shirley), Rickey Heggar (LaKecia) and Dwayne Heggar & all of their children/grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Frankie Lee and step mother Maxine Heggar, his mother Billie Ruth and step-father Willie James Wilder, and his sister Deborah Ellesse (Heggar) Genwright.
A visitation for James will be held Saturday, May 24, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Singing Hills Funeral Home, 6221 UNIVERSITY HILLS BLVD, DALLAS, TX 75241. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, May 27, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 6221 UNIVERSITY HILLS BLVD, DALLAS, TX 75241. A funeral honors & burial will occur Tuesday, May 27, 2025 from 2:15 PM to 2:45 PM at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211.
