He was born James Turner Martin on December 24, 1928 and died on December 8, 2013. He retired in 2000 after many years in the insurance business. He served as an elder of the Pleasant Grove Church of Christ for over 40 years. Jim loved people, adults as well as children, and they loved him. He is survived by Polly, his loving wife of 63 years, and 2 brothers, John Gillis Martin and Charles Martin. He is also survived by 3 children: Jim & his wife Charlotte, Becky & her husband Glen, David Martin, as well as 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held at the Pleasant Grove Church of Christ on Friday, October 13. A visitation/viewing will begin at 10:00, followed by the funeral at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pleasant Grove Church of Christ/ Iglesia de Cristo, 1407 Conner Dr. Dallas, TX. 75217.
