Mr. Rogers was preceded in death by his loving grandparents, Clarence and Ollie; father, Charles; mother, Isabel, and eldest son, Timothy. He is survived by his wife Debra, his remaining children: Adam, Christopher, Dawn and her husband David, and Jason; his brother, Don and sister, Debbie, and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews .
James was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he earned a National Defense Service medal. He served three years with distinction as a Marine being badly wounded and was honorably discharged in 1966.
After the military, he moved frequently before returning to San Antonio, the place of his birth. James was a very hard worker and a jack of many trades; excelling at a variety of jobs from taxi driver to short order cook to machine maintenance.
After moving to Dallas in 1981, with his wife, Debra he worked 20 years for the City of Dallas Water department. Never the stay at home type, James worked five more years with the State of Texas Transportation Department before full retirement.
James was also a dog lover with many beloved canines throughout the years and a wonderful home chef always preparing delicious meals for his family.
He will be dearly missed.
