James Louis Selman, 82, passed away on September 6, 2011at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, TX. Jim was born January 4, 1929 in Terrell, TX to Lamar Creecy Selman and John Lewis Selman. Jim served in the Oklahoma National Guard in Ft. Sill, Oklahoma in 1948. He later joined the U.S. Air Force in 1951. Upon his return he began what became his lifetime career in the lighting supply business. He worked for several companies before starting his own business, Light Bulb Supply, Inc., in 1975. Jim retired in 2004. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Lamar Creecy Selman and John Lewis Selman, and his younger brother Charles Selman. He is survived by his nieces, Charla Selman Behr of Lake Jackson, TX and Renee Selman Westerman of Kingwood, TX, his nephew, John Selman of Mesquite, TX and three great-nieces. He is also survived by his loving cousin Shirley Livingston of Mesquite, TX who has been his devoted friend and primary caregiver. In addition, Jim leaves behind many lifelong friends. Memorial services will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, September 10, 2011 in the North Mausoleum Chapel at Calvary Hill Cemetery. In honor of his dedication and affection for his dogs, Doodles and Peaches, the family request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Dallas SPCA or Operation Kindness in Carrollton, TX.
